Find a Breeder

Hello,
I´m from Germany and i´m looking for a breeder of smoushond.
I would like to have a puppy. Can you help me to find it?

Entschuldigung,
Welpen von die Smous kan man nu bekommen beim Smoushundenclub. Es gibt keine Züchter welcher die Welpen draussen die Club zuchten. Und weil diese Rasse im Moment noch ein bischen im Aufbau ist werden noch keine Welpen draussen die Niederlände verkauft.
Vielleicht ist es über einige Jahren möglich um ein Smoushund zu bekommen, aber bis jetzt nog nicht.

Selb habe ich noch keine Smous (nur kooikerhondjes).

Welcome! But, sorry... Because of the fact that "the Smoushond" is subject of a breedingprogram, the dogs are kept in Holland. So it is certainly not possible for you to buy a Hollandse Smoushond.

Perhaps you can look for a smous-look-a-like in an animal home in your own country?

Unfortunately the breeding-club is not ready to sell any of the dogs outside the Netherlands as yet.
The reason for this is simple. The breed was declared extinct after World War ll.
Breeding was started with look - a - like dogs in 1973. After about 35 years of reestablishing this breed, there is now a small population of more or less typical Smousdogs. The selection is on good temperament, health and appearance, in that order.
They are still striving for more uniformity in exterior and temperament, whilst maintaining good health.
That's why every Smoushond is followed from birth till breeding-time and beyond. So it needs sensible use of the still quite limited gene-pool.
